Family, friends gather for Alexx Ekubo’s service of songs in Lekki

Family, friends and well-wishers gathered at the Monarch Event Centre in the Lekki area of Lagos State on Wednesday to honour late actor Alexx Ekubo during a service of songs, where emotional tributes and speeches were delivered in his memory.
Alexx Ekubo died on May 11, 2026, following complications from metastatic kidney cancer. Since his passing, family members, friends and fans have continued to pay tribute to him by sharing photographs, videos and memories of moments spent with the actor.
The solemn event marked the commencement of his burial rites, with guests, including several Nollywood celebrities, dressed in white as a symbol of respect for the deceased.
The family has continued to solicit prayers as preparations for the remaining burial activities progress. According to the burial schedule, the service of songs will be followed by a wake service in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, on June 17, 2026.
Other activities include a funeral service and reception on June 18, 2026, after which he will be laid to rest on the same day.
Celebrities who attended the service of songs included Nancy Isime, Dayo Amusa, Shaffy Bello and IK Ogbonna.
