Fintiri to Tinubu: ‘Stay courageous, make tough decisions for Nigeria’

Adamawa State Governor Umaru Fintiri has urged President Bola Tinubu to maintain his bold stance in making decisions for the good of Nigeria, assuring him that the state and its people stand fully behind him.

Speaking on Monday during the President’s first official visit to Yola, the Governor said governance is ultimately about serving the people and the country, beyond politics.

“Continue to have the courage to make the toughest decision for the good of the country. Do not waiver, do not falter. Beyond politics, governance is about the people and service to fatherland. We are with you. Our people are with you. Adamawa State is with you all the way, all the time. Thank you and God, bless you,” Fintiri said.

The Governor welcomed President Tinubu to commission several major projects across the state, including the Yola Model School, one of 21 model schools built across Adamawa’s local government areas, costing N24.8 billion. He said his administration expanded Galadima Aminu Way with an eight-lane garage, overhead bridge, underpass, roundabout, and dualized Gimba Road, which cost N15.6 billion, as well as the remodeled State High Court Complex and a new Government House office complex.

Speaking further, Fintiri said these projects symbolise the strides Adamawa State has made in education, infrastructure, and urban renewal. He highlighted ongoing initiatives such as a massive shopping mall, flyovers in AA Lawan and Mubi, an International Conference Center, and an International Stadium. Plans for three new boarding mega science and technical schools across the state were also announced, with 5,000 teachers already employed to staff them.

The Governor emphasised that the state has undertaken projects traditionally handled by the federal government, including the construction of federal roads, bridges, embankments, and hostels for Nigerian Law School students in Yola. He also outlined water supply improvements and renovations of army barracks in Mubi following federal approval to reestablish military formations in the Northeast.

Fintiri praised President Tinubu’s economic reforms and federalism policies, which empower states with more resources and responsibilities, noting that these policies have enabled Adamawa to deliver tangible benefits to its people. He said the projects reflect a strong partnership between the federal and state governments, aimed at fostering inclusive growth, infrastructure development, and improved social services.

“Mr President, you are Nigeria’s best tailor. Continue to have the courage to make the toughest decision for the good of the country… Adamawa State is with you all the way, all the time,” Fintiri said, reaffirming the state’s support for the President’s reform agenda.
