Former presidential aspirant Busari-Akinnadeju urges Nigerians not to lose hope

A former presidential aspirant under the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju, has urged Nigerians to remain optimistic about the country’s future despite prevailing challenges, saying national transformation remains achievable through collective effort.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Akure, Busari-Akinnadeju called on citizens not to succumb to fear, intimidation or despair, stressing that unity and determination would help the country overcome its difficulties.

The former aspirant, who recently resigned from the party following allegations of irregularities in its presidential primary, said Nigeria could regain its lost glory if citizens worked together toward a common goal.

She noted that the 2027 general election presents an opportunity for Nigerians to elect credible leaders committed to improving the welfare of the people and advancing national development.

Busari-Akinnadeju also applauded the growing participation of women in politics, describing the emergence of more female aspirants and candidates in various party primaries as a significant milestone for the country’s democracy.

“This marks a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey. The increasing number of women seeking elective offices reflects years of deliberate efforts to ensure women occupy their rightful place in leadership,” she said.

According to her, the next phase of her political engagement would focus on mobilising citizens through strategic consultations aimed at strengthening people’s participation in governance and restoring public confidence in democratic institutions.

“The Constitution is clear that the security and welfare of the people remain the primary responsibility of government. Nigerians are at the centre of this mission, and together we can build a better future,” Busari-Akinnadeju added. She also congratulated women who emerged successful in their respective party primaries, describing their victories as an inspiration to others.
