Ibom Deep Sea Port project advances as Eno meets partners in Paris

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Ibom Deep Sea Port Project following a high-level technical meeting with Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group in Paris, France.

The meeting, held on Friday, focused on reviewing the Technical Feasibility Report recently submitted by Worley Parsons and assessing the next steps required to move the project towards implementation.

Governor Eno used the opportunity to push for faster progress on the project, calling for clear timelines, measurable milestones and practical steps that would ensure its timely delivery.

He said the Ibom Deep Sea Port remains a strategic project with the potential to transform Akwa Ibom into a major maritime, trade and logistics hub, while creating jobs and attracting investment to the state.

The governor and prospective partners also reaffirmed their commitment to the project, describing it as a key blue economy initiative capable of boosting economic activities across the Gulf of Guinea region.

A statement issued by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, said discussions centred on investment opportunities, project execution and measures needed to guarantee the long-term sustainability of the port.

According to the statement, Governor Eno was accompanied by the Chairman of the Technical Committee on the Ibom Deep Sea Port Project and former Director-General of NIMASA, Mrs Mfon Usoro; the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; the Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr Frank Ekpeyong; and the Managing Director of Hensek Integrated, Engr Uwem Okoko.

Other members of the state delegation were also present at the meeting, which stakeholders believe marks another important step towards the realisation of the long-awaited deep sea port project.
