Kwara monarchs urge APC candidates to justify voters’ confidence in office

Traditional rulers in Kwara South Senatorial District have urged candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering quality leadership if elected in the 2027 general elections.
The monarchs made the appeal during a “thank you” visit by APC candidates to stakeholders in Kwara South following the party’s recently concluded primaries. Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Onipe of Ipe, Oba Mufutau Lawal, said the people expected the candidates to surpass the performance of the current administration in the state.
He also offered prayers for the success of the APC in the 2027 elections, reaffirmed the commitment of the people of Kwara South to the party, and pledged their continued support for the candidates.
In addition, the traditional rulers commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what they described as his administration’s developmental strides across Kwara State.
Speaking during the visits to Ilemona, Erin-Ile and Offa, APC Chairman in Kwara, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the people of Kwara South had remained loyal to the party, contributing to the peaceful and successful conduct of the primaries that produced candidates for all elective positions, including the party’s governorship candidate, Salihu Yakubu-Danladi.
Fagbemi said that while the APC had concluded its candidate selection process, some other political parties were still battling internal crises over the emergence of their governorship candidates despite the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to him, some parties have yet to resolve disputes arising from the emergence of multiple governorship candidates even after the deadline for the submission of candidates, a situation he said reflected the APC’s level of preparedness ahead of the elections.
He added that the APC governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates joined the tour to personally appreciate party members and stakeholders for their support, while also paying homage to traditional rulers to seek their blessings and thank them for promoting peace and democratic processes in the state.
