Military vows justice as DHQ visits family of late Major General Abubakar
The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have assured the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd) that those responsible for his death will be brought to justice, as a delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) paid condolence visits to his family and the Katsina State Government on Sunday.
The delegation, led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family, as well as the government and people of Katsina State.
At the family residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi described the late General Abubakar as a dedicated and patriotic officer who served the nation with distinction. He noted that the deceased made significant contributions to the growth of the Nigerian Army and the country’s security architecture.
He assured the family that the Armed Forces and relevant security agencies would continue efforts to ensure those responsible for the General’s death are brought to justice, while reaffirming the military’s support for the family during the mourning period. A National Flag was also presented to the family in honour of the late officer’s service and sacrifice to the nation.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, thanked the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their support and solidarity. He expressed appreciation for the military’s presence and prayers during the difficult period.
Earlier, the delegation visited the Katsina State Government House, where it was received by the Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda. Major General Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the Armed Forces to the state government and people of Katsina over the loss of one of the state’s distinguished sons.
The deputy governor described the death of Major General Abubakar as a painful loss to both Katsina State and the nation. He called for greater collaboration among stakeholders to tackle insecurity and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting military operations aimed at restoring peace across the North-West region.
Major General Abdullahi commended the Katsina State Government for its continued support to the military, stressing that cooperation between the armed forces and state authorities remains critical to achieving lasting peace and security. Special prayers were offered at both the family residence and the Government House for the peaceful repose of the late officer’s soul.
