Minister Dele Alake advocates support for Tinubu’s policies

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has called on Nigeria’s elite to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing that their support is crucial to driving the nation’s economic recovery.

Speaking in Kaduna on Tuesday during his acceptance speech for the “Most Impactful Minister” award conferred by the Arewa Think-Tank, Dr. Alake credited his achievements to President Tinubu’s collaborative leadership style.

Alake highlighted significant strides in the mining sector, including the creation of Mining Marshals through joint efforts with the Ministries of Interior and Defence and the promotion of the sector abroad in collaboration with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Investment. These initiatives, he said, demonstrate the administration’s commitment to strategic teamwork.

“The success of any minister is the result of collaboration across many ministries,” he added.

Alake reflected on President Tinubu’s governance track record, recalling his transformative leadership as a senator in the Third Republic and as Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007.

“As governor, he restructured Lagos’ domestic economy, creating wealth for risk-takers and welfare for the vulnerable. His 25-year economic projection for Lagos has been a resounding success, setting a new economic template. If Lagos is working, Nigeria, in his hands, is destined to work even better,” Alake stated.

He acknowledged the current economic challenges arising from Tinubu’s policies but urged Nigerians to view these sacrifices as investments in a prosperous future.

The minister praised Tinubu’s bold move to end fuel subsidy profiteering, describing it as a decisive step toward economic reform. He pointed to the resumption of operations at the Port Harcourt refinery as evidence of the administration’s commitment to lowering costs and enhancing the lives of Nigerians.

“President Tinubu has taken on the cabals who exploited the subsidy regime. By removing this burden, he has paved the way for a more equitable system,” Alake added.

The event’s chairman, Retired General Martin Luther Agwai, emphasized the importance of prioritizing agriculture, particularly in the face of climate change and insecurity. His sentiments were echoed by Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, who outlined his administration’s achievements in agriculture and their positive impact on farmers’ livelihoods.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Chief Sunday Dare, delivered a speech in Hausa, reiterating the administration’s achievements and appealing to citizens for continued support.

The Arewa Think-Tank commended the Tinubu administration’s reforms and urged Nigerians to embrace the policies for the greater good.
