NANS mobilises Ondo students for protest over prolonged strikes

The National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Council, Ondo Axis, has mobilised students across the state for a peaceful protest on Monday, September 14, over prolonged industrial actions disrupting academic activities in tertiary institutions.
The students’ body announced the planned protest in a statement signed by its Chairman, Adekanye Mayomi A., and General Secretary, Oladele Oluwafemi E., and made available by its Public Relations Officer, Johnpaul O. Alabi, on Sunday.
NANS said the protest was aimed at drawing attention to the prolonged disruption of academic activities and compelling relevant authorities to urgently resolve the disputes responsible for the strikes.
According to the association, the continued disruption of academic activities was having serious consequences for students’ education and future, stressing that they should not bear the burden of disagreements between workers and government or institutional authorities.
The council therefore urged students across Ondo State to unite and participate in the protest, saying their collective action was necessary to make their concerns known to the authorities.
NANS called for an immediate resolution of the disputes, insisting that students deserved to return to their classrooms and continue their academic programmes without further delays.
The association said the protest would be peaceful and urged participants to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the demonstration.
It added that the exact time and venue for the protest would be communicated to students later as preparations for the action continued.
