Olajengbesi calls for thorough investigation into Emir’s killing

Accord candidate for the House of Representatives for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has called for a thorough and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Olajengbesi, in a statement made available to Western Post on Sunday, said everyone found responsible for the killing must be brought to justice and made to face the full weight of the law.

He stated that no individual or group should have the liberty to take another person’s life and escape accountability.

The Accord candidate, who described Oyeyemi’s death as unfortunate and painful, said the loss of any human life through violence should concern society and prompt reflection on the values being passed to the coming generation.

He said, “The loss of any human life through violence should trouble us all. Moments like this should compel us to reflect deeply on the kind of society we are building and the values we are passing to the generation coming behind us”.

He noted that society had a collective responsibility to build a culture where violence was not celebrated, human life was respected, and strength was measured by character rather than force.

“We must collectively choose a better path. We must rebuild our value system, discourage the culture of violence in all its forms, and ensure that the generation coming behind us inherits a society with greater respect for human dignity and the sanctity of life.”

Olajengbesi expressed his condolences to Oyeyemi’s family, friends and everyone affected by the incident, while praying for peace in Osun State.
