NRC confirms train accident along Warri–Itakpe corridor, rescue operation underway

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed a serious train accident along the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridor at Agbor.
The corporation said rescue and emergency response operations are currently ongoing at the scene, while relevant authorities are working to determine the full extent of the incident.
In a statement on Monday, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, said further details would be released as they become available.
The NRC assured that all necessary agencies had been mobilised to manage the situation and ensure safety at the accident site.
It also confirmed that the Delta State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, have been informed about the incident.
