Ogunbiyi meets APC stakeholders, declares interest in Osun West senatorial seat

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, has declared his intention to contest the Osun West senatorial seat, promising quality representation for the people of the district.

He said his decision to vie for the position would be beneficial to Osun West, citing his antecedents, credentials, and wealth of experience as key advantages.

Ogunbiyi, who is the chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, made the declaration in Iwo, headquarters of Osun West Senatorial District, while addressing journalists shortly after informing party stakeholders of his intention.

He explained that his senatorial ambition provides another avenue to serve the people more effectively, while expressing confidence that the party’s consensus arrangement would favour his candidacy.

According to him, party leaders in the district received his aspiration with enthusiasm, noting that the same consensus process adopted in the governorship could be applied in selecting candidates for other positions.

“I am here to inform the party leaders (APC), and they received the news with overwhelming joy. With the experience of the governorship and the way Iwo Federal Constituency lost out, our leaders presented a candidate, and we all aligned with Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji.

“I know the same process will be applied for the other positions. Though we have contestants from other constituencies, in this our constituency, I believe I am the only one because our leaders all aligned with me because of my antecedents,” he said.
