Ondo council boss reassures residents of safety after boy’s abduction

The Chairman of Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Clement Ojo, has appealed to residents to remain calm following the abduction of a nine-year-old boy during an attack by suspected kidnappers on Igbosi community in Idogun.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when armed men reportedly stormed the community along the Imeri Road axis, vandalised property and abducted the child, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Reacting to the development, Ojo condemned the attack, describing it as a serious threat to the peace, security and stability of the local government area.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Oluwaseun Ogunniyi, the council chairman disclosed that security agencies were immediately notified after the incident and had commenced efforts to rescue the victim.
He said a coordinated security operation involving personnel of the Ose Bravers Security Outfit, the police, the Amotekun Corps and local vigilante groups had been activated to track down the kidnappers.
According to him, security operatives have intensified surveillance and combing operations in forests and other suspected hideouts across the area in a bid to secure the boy’s release and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
Ojo assured residents that the council was working closely with relevant security agencies and deploying all available resources to ensure the safe return of the victim while restoring normalcy to the affected community.
“The peace and security of our people remain non-negotiable. We are working closely with all security agencies, and every necessary measure has been activated to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the arrest of those behind this act,” he said, while sympathising with the victim’s family and urging residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious movements and avoid spreading unverified information capable of creating panic.
