Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called for calm and urged residents to allow authorities to investigate and ensure justice in the alleged attempted murder of the Chairman of the State Park Management System (OSPMS), Nurudeen Iyanda Wakili, popularly known as Alowonle.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke appealed to transport workers across the state not to take the law into their own hands.
He assured them that both state and federal authorities were committed to addressing the matter and ensuring justice is served.
The Governor revealed that he had spoken with the Inspector General of Police, who has directed immediate action to apprehend those responsible for the shooting of the OSPMS chairman.
“I call on Osun transport workers to maintain peace and not takethe law into their own hands. I have acted on this sad incident. I spoke with the police chief, and I had a closed-door meeting with the Commissioner of Police. Justice will be served.
“We will not allow agents of violence to disrupt the peace and stability of our dear state. Do not be provoked into violence. Go about your normal duties while we handle this serious threat to the peace of our state,” Adeleke said.
Meanwhile, the State Government confirmed that the Inspector General of Police has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of Moses Lohor, the Head of the Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Osun State, along with members of his team, for their alleged involvement in the incident.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Samuel Ojo Esq, in a statement issued by Mallam Olawale Rasheed following a closed-door meeting between Governor Adeleke and the State Commissioner of Police.
The statement read:
“We can confirm that the police authorities at the highest level have acted decisively on this matter. A clear punitive directive was issued by the Inspector General of Police.
“Mr. Governor has directed that we follow up to ensure that justice is served.”
The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice swiftly.
