Oyo APC governorship candidate Alli denies link to Adelabu relative’s abduction

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has dismissed reports linking him to the abduction of the younger sister and nephews of the former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, describing the allegations as false, malicious and politically motivated.
The lawmaker, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, also urged security agencies to intensify investigations into the kidnapping and ensure that all those connected with the crime are identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
In a statement issued by his media office, Alli said efforts to associate him with the incident were part of a deliberate smear campaign designed to damage his reputation and distract from his public service record.
The statement described reports circulating on social media as irresponsible, defamatory and lacking any credible evidence. It maintained that the allegations were based on unverified claims and should not be taken as established facts.
According to the media office, Alli has built his reputation over several decades through public service, legal practice and community leadership, making it unreasonable to link him to criminal activities without concrete proof.
The statement stressed that the senator had no connection whatsoever with the kidnapping, the individuals allegedly involved, or any form of violent or criminal activity. It argued that attempts to tie campaign materials or stickers to the crime reflected a desperate effort by political opponents to tarnish his image.
It further noted that no security agency had established any link between Alli and the alleged crime, warning against the spread of unverified information capable of misleading the public and heightening political tensions in the state.
While condemning the abduction, the senator reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving security and protecting lives and property across Oyo State and Nigeria. He urged the public to disregard the reports, avoid spreading false information and allow security agencies to carry out their investigations without interference.
