Oyo LG boss, Ibrahim Akintayo, joins Oyo 2027 gubernatorial race

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Akintayo made his declaration after appearing before the Oyo State PDP Governorship Screening Committee, before addressing party supporters at a gathering in Ibadan.
In his statement, he said his decision was driven by “deep humility and a strong sense of responsibility,” adding that he is seeking the party’s ticket for the 2027 governorship race.
Speaking about his previous role, he said his time as chairman has been marked by grassroots development, accountability, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents in his Local Government Area.
Akintayo also highlighted his experience in public administration, saying it has prepared him for higher responsibility at the state level, while pledging inclusive leadership if elected.
He further promised to build on the achievements of the current administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that the state has made progress in infrastructure, economic growth, and governance.
“I am committed to building on the achievements of this administration and ensuring continuity of purposeful leadership that will take Oyo State to greater heights,” he said.
