Oyo police speak on Adetutu Aderibigbe’s abduction, launch manhunt for assailants

The Oyo State Police Command has clarified the circumstances surrounding the reported abduction of Mrs. Adetutu Aderibigbe, saying she was not kidnapped on the road as initially reported.

The clarification was made via a statement noting that preliminary investigations indicated the incident occurred on April 8, 2026, around 6:00 p.m. at the Bolumole area off Ring Road in Ibadan.

According to the police, the victim was allegedly trailed to her residence by armed men and attacked as she arrived her premises.

As reported, four masked assailants accosted her at the gate and forced her into an unregistered black Lexus vehicle, leaving others at the scene unharmed.

The command further revealed that a distress report was received shortly after the incident, prompting an immediate response.

In response, detectives were deployed to the scene and the case was promptly escalated to tactical units for further action.

Police also confirmed that the crime scene has been examined and relevant evidence recovered to support ongoing investigations, adding that surveillance and intelligence operations have been intensified to track down the suspects and secure the victim’s release.

The command further urged residents to remain calm and assist investigations by providing credible information, assuring that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victim.
