PHOTO NEWS: Investments, enterprise will drive Nigeria’s $1trn economy – VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has said Nigeria’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy will be driven by enterprise, investment, and coordinated reforms across all levels of government.

He made the statement on Monday while declaring open the Invest Lagos 3.0 Summit held at Eko Hotel and Suites, noting that sustainable economic transformation depends on creating an enabling environment for capital, innovation, and productive enterprise to thrive.

Shettima identified Lagos State as the clearest example of how subnational leadership can accelerate national development, describing it as Nigeria’s foremost economic gateway and one of Africa’s most important commercial hubs.

According to him, Lagos has consistently demonstrated that economic progress is achievable when vision is matched with competent leadership, institutional continuity, and private sector confidence.

“Lagos is the livewire of our continent… the furnace in which our ideas are tested against the discipline of execution,” the Vice President said, adding that the state remains a “gateway through which Nigeria continues to greet the future.”

Shettima credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for laying the foundation of Lagos’ development model, describing it as a governance tradition built on long-term planning and institutional continuity.

He also commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for sustaining the state’s growth momentum and strengthening its attractiveness to investors.
