The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers in Akure, the state capital, as part of its ongoing crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the state.

The suspects, identified as Fisayo Adedamola, Adeola Oluwaseun and Adeogun Olumide, were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Squad during a routine patrol on July 24. Police said the operation was aimed at disrupting criminal networks linked to cultism, armed robbery and other violent crimes.

Items recovered from the suspects included substances suspected to be cannabis, tramadol capsules, codeine syrup and Tutolin syrup.

The exhibits have been taken into police custody while investigations continue to determine the source of the drugs and identify other members of the suspected distribution network.

Confirming the arrest on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspects would be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigations.

Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, said the command will continue to go after individuals and syndicates involved in the illegal drug trade, while urging residents, community leaders and parents to support security agencies with credible information.

“We appeal to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities. Community partnership is vital to winning the fight against drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of lives and property,” the commissioner said.

The police command also reaffirmed its commitment to proactive policing and intelligence-driven operations, warning individuals involved in criminal activities to abandon such acts or face the full weight of the law.
