Tinubu appoints Shagari as NIWA chairman, redeploys Sarkin Adar to NEITI
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in the leadership of two key federal agencies, appointing former Water Resources Minister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari as the new chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
Shagari, a veteran politician, former deputy governor of Sokoto State and nephew of Nigeria’s first civilian president, Shehu Shagari, replaces Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar.
Sarkin Adar has been redeployed to serve as the new executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), following the president’s approval of a leadership shuffle aimed at strengthening the agencies’ operations.
The appointments, announced via official media channels, take immediate effect.
