Tinubu celebrates Elegushi at 50, praises contributions to community development

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Oba of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, on the occasion of his 50th birthday, commending his leadership and developmental impact in Lagos State.

In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the monarch for his efforts in promoting education, healthcare, and youth empowerment within the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom.

He noted that the monarch’s 16-year reign has strengthened community development and cultural heritage.

President Tinubu also described the monarch as a leader who has successfully balanced tradition with modern governance practices, particularly through initiatives in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and skills acquisition.

He also reflected on his past working relationship with the monarch during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, recalling that Oba Elegushi served as his Special Assistant between 2003 and 2007, and later as Senior Special Assistant from 2007 to 2010.

“Oba Elegushi has demonstrated vision, grace, wisdom and courage in keeping a balance between tradition and modernity,” the President said, adding that the monarch’s leadership has delivered notable benefits to his people.

He prayed for continued good health, long life, and wisdom for the traditional ruler as he continues to serve his kingdom, Lagos State, and Nigeria.

Oba Elegushi, the 21st ruler of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, was also celebrated by members of the Lagos State Traditional Council and residents of the kingdom on his milestone birthday.
