Tinubu celebrates NAN boss Ali Muhammad Ali at 60

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Muhammad Ali, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, celebrated on June 7.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Ali as a distinguished journalist and administrator who has brought extensive experience and leadership to strengthen the mandate of the country’s official news agency, News Agency of Nigeria.
President Tinubu commended Ali Muhammad Ali for his efforts in enhancing communication between citizens, the private sector, and government institutions through strategic coverage of national and international events. He also noted NAN’s expanded focus on specialised reporting across key sectors and government programmes under Ali’s leadership.
The President praised the agency’s consistency in news gathering and dissemination, as well as its partnerships with multilateral institutions, foreign news agencies, and media platforms. According to him, these efforts have helped improve Nigeria’s global image and reduce the spread of misinformation, particularly in online spaces.
“Under Ali’s watch, NAN continues to demonstrate consistency in news gathering, sharing, and networking with multilateral institutions, foreign news agencies, and media platforms—efforts that have further enhanced the image of the country and helped in mitigating the spread of fake news,” President Tinubu said.
He further commended the management and staff of NAN for sustaining its mandate as Africa’s leading news agency.
Wishing the NAN boss well, the President prayed for continued good health, strength, and wisdom as he marks his diamond jubilee.
