2027 Polls: APC sets presidential ticket at N100m, governorship N50 million

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2027 general elections, setting the cost of its presidential nomination form at N100 million.

According to the party, governorship forms for all 36 states will cost N50 million, while Senate forms will cost N20 million. Aspirants for the House of Representatives will pay N10 million, and those seeking seats in state Houses of Assembly will pay N5 million.

These details were contained in a document titled “Schedule of Activities and Timetable for the 2027 General Elections,” signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Arugungu, and released on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

According to a report by PUNCH, The document read, “In accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, I hereby present a proposed timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of the 2027 general elections to the National Chairman/National Working Committee accordingly.”

The party announced that its special convention for presidential primaries will take place from May 28 to May 29, 2026, and that it will adopt direct primaries across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Notices of election will be sent to state chapters on April 20, 2026. The sale of nomination forms will begin on April 25 at the APC national secretariat in Abuja and close on May 2, with submission deadlines set for May 4.

Screening of presidential aspirants is scheduled for May 23, while governorship, senatorial, and House of Representatives aspirants will be screened between May 9 and May 10 in Abuja. Screening for state House of Assembly aspirants will take place on the same dates in their respective state capitals.

Results of the presidential screening will be released on May 24, while results for other categories will be published on May 13. Appeals for presidential aspirants will be heard on May 25, with appeals for other positions scheduled for May 14.

Primary elections are set to hold as follows: state Houses of Assembly on May 16, governorship on May 18, House of Representatives on May 20, and Senate on May 22.
