Stakeholders rally in Abidjan as AFRIMA builds momentum for 10th edition
Francophone stakeholders gathered in Abidjan on Tuesday, February 18, 2026, for the Road to the 10th AFRIMA Media and Stakeholders’ Parley, marking the second stop in the global build-up to the landmark 10th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). The first engagement was held last month in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The event showcased Abidjan’s readiness to host a future edition of AFRIMA, drawing government officials, culture industry leaders, artists, and media representatives. Serge Akpatou, Deputy Director General of the Ivorian Bureau of Copyright (BURIDA), said the awards “add real value to Africa’s creative ecosystem” and expressed hope that Abidjan would host a future edition.
Mr. Hein Sie, Representative of the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, described AFRIMA as “a powerful instrument of cultural diplomacy and economic growth,” praising the event for promoting African excellence and creating opportunities for creatives.
Leading the International Executive Committee of AFRIMA were Associate Producer Victoria Nkong and International Jury Member Messie Mboukou. They were joined by Ivorian winners of the 9th AFRIMA, including Didi B, Milo, Morijah, Team Paiya, alongside Axel Merryl from Benin and DJ Moh Green from Algeria.
Mboukou highlighted the importance of collaboration with Francophone Africa, emphasising that the parley was “about dialogue, transparency, and building stronger bridges between artistes, media, cultural institutions, and AFRIMA.” He also assured that the awards’ adjudication process is independently audited and secure.

One of the highlights was the presentation of the 9th AFRIMA Trophy for Best Female African Inspirational Music to Morijah, who could not attend the main ceremony due to medical reasons. She said the award “represents years of sacrifice and dedication” and expressed gratitude to AFRIMA and Africa for the recognition.
Artists present reflected on their experiences. Zagba of Team Paiya said the win boosted their confidence, while Didi B and DJ Moh Green praised AFRIMA for providing exposure and rewarding consistent dedication. Axel Merryl and Milo noted that performing on large stages inspired them to expand their reach and dream bigger.
The event also attracted industry stakeholders, brand partners, and media, with Air Côte d’Ivoire as the official airline partner. As AFRIMA prepares for its 10th edition, the International Committee, in partnership with the African Union Commission and host city Lagos, continues to celebrate the success of the 9th edition held in Lagos from January 7 to 11, 2026.
