Gbajabiamila urges youths to drive national development, backs Tinubu’s reforms

The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has called on Nigerian youths to embrace responsibility, promote national unity and place the country’s interest above personal ambition, describing young people as critical to Nigeria’s development and long-term prosperity.
Gbajabiamila made the call on Tuesday while delivering his goodwill message to participants at the 2026 National Retreat of the City Boy Movement in Abuja, where he said the country’s future would depend on a generation committed to service, sacrifice and purposeful leadership.
The retreat, themed “Youth, Unity and Action,” brought together youth leaders and coordinators of the movement from across the country.
According to the Chief of Staff, the gathering came at a critical period of economic transformation and institutional reforms under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
“No nation rises above the quality of its youth. Every generation’s destiny is shaped by its willingness to embrace responsibility, uphold unity, and turn vision into action. The future we seek will not arrive by chance; it will be built deliberately by men and women who choose service over self, sacrifice over comfort, and nation over narrow interest,” Gbajabiamila said.
He said the Tinubu administration had undertaken bold reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, the unification of the foreign exchange market and reforms of the tax system, which he said were laying the foundation for long-term economic growth.
“These bold reforms are steadily restoring economic stability, with inflation easing and renewed investor confidence in the Nigerian economy. Alongside them, deliberate investment in infrastructure, human capital and youth empowerment… is opening real opportunity for the next generation,” he said.
Gbajabiamila also commended the Patron and National Leader of the City Boy Movement, Seyi Tinubu, for his commitment to youth development, saying his leadership had contributed significantly to the growth of the organisation.
