The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has urged security agencies across the country to strengthen their operations by integrating indigenous intelligence with modern security strategies.
Speaking at his palace in Oyo during a courtesy visit by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, the monarch stressed that blending traditional knowledge with contemporary technology is vital to overcoming emerging security threats.
In a statement issued by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the traditional ruler noted that effective intelligence management forms the bedrock of national stability, economic prosperity, and public safety.
Drawing historical context, the monarch highlighted that the Old Oyo Empire sustained over 600 years of stability primarily through robust native internal security frameworks.
He explained that an effective intelligence system requires setting clear objectives for field operatives, rigorous evaluation of raw information, and timely dissemination of processed data to decision-makers.
While calling for proper funding, modern equipment, and enhanced welfare to boost police morale, the traditional ruler warned against discarding indigenous intelligence systems in favor of foreign methods alone.
Responding, Commissioner Olugbenga expressed appreciation to the royal father for his continuous support of policing initiatives and crime prevention across Oyo town and the entire state.
The monarch assured the police chief of his sustained commitment and assistance to help law enforcement agencies eradicate criminal activities throughout the state.
