Popular Nigerian content creator and food enthusiast, Ibrahim Lawal, has announced the death of his British wife, Claire Chadwick, and their unborn child following pregnancy-related health complications in Nigeria.

Lawal made the heartbreaking announcement in an Instagram post on Thursday, saying his wife and their unborn child died on October 29, 2026.

“It is with a deeply broken heart that I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of my beloved wife, Claire, and our precious baby. Words cannot adequately express the pain, emptiness and heartbreak that come with losing the two people who meant so much to me. This is an incredibly difficult time for me and both our families, and I am still trying to come to terms with this painful reality,” he said.

Describing the loss, Lawal said their unborn child was a blessing they had eagerly looked forward to welcoming, while describing his wife as his best friend, companion and an irreplaceable part of his life.

Claire, 40, had moved from the United Kingdom to Nigeria to build a life with her husband. Together, they became popular content creators on TikTok and Instagram, sharing their daily lives, relationship and food adventures.

Reports said Claire was 37 weeks pregnant when their unborn daughter died in the womb. She subsequently developed severe complications from sepsis and died from septic shock, leaving behind a 19-year-old son who lives in Wales.

In his emotional post, Lawal also expressed gratitude to Claire’s family for their support during what he described as a devastating period. He particularly thanked them for organising a GoFundMe campaign to transport her body to the United Kingdom for burial.

He also appreciated friends and well-wishers who reached out and contributed to the fundraiser, which surpassed its £10,000 target.
