The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Professor Tomola Obamuyi, has urged prominent alumni of the institution serving in the state government to deploy their influence, expertise and networks toward the development of their alma mater.

Obamuyi made the call on Wednesday when he led a university delegation to meet alumni serving as political appointees in the Ondo State Government, during a meeting held at the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro.

At the meeting, the vice-chancellor said the engagement was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the university and its alumni while exploring areas of collaboration that could accelerate the institution’s development.

He stressed that universities globally relied on the goodwill, expertise and contributions of their alumni, adding that AAUA needed the support of its graduates to achieve its developmental aspirations.

“No institution in the world can attain its full potential without the input and support of its alumni. That is why we are here. The university needs your support in all ramifications,” he said.

Obamuyi explained that the university’s appeal went beyond financial assistance, noting that alumni could contribute through their professional expertise, ideas, networks, influence and goodwill.

Responding, the alumni pledged their support for the university and expressed readiness to use their positions and connections to promote initiatives that would enhance AAUA’s growth, visibility and overall development. They also commended Obamuyi for initiating the engagement, describing it as a timely step toward strengthening the bond between the institution and its graduates.

Dignitaries present at the meeting included Takuro; the Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Sanitation, Ayodele Samson Akande; the Commissioner for Environment, Tob Loko; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Allen Sowore.
