Leaders and elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State have proposed that an indigene of Akure succeeds Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The position was made known in a communiqué issued at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting held in Akure under the leadership of Prince Tony Ala wherein the group reaffirmed its loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and Aiyedatiwa.
Notable signatories to the document include Sunday Adejuyigbe, Ifedayo Ologometa, Dele Faboro, Idowu Otetubi and Femi Bello, among others.
The leaders argued that fairness and inclusiveness demand that Akure, being the state capital, should produce the next governor of Ondo State, adding that the demand reflects the aspirations of Akure-speaking communities and aligns with equitable power rotation across the state.
They also endorsed Oluwafemi Fadairo for the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency and Adeola Rosemary Fynch for the Akure South Constituency I seat in the state assembly.
According to them, the endorsements were based on competence, loyalty and strong grassroots appeal of the aspirants.
The leaders, however, rejected automatic tickets, insisting that only credible and widely accepted candidates should emerge.
