Alia lauds Remi Tinubu as ICT centre opens in Benue community
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her commitment to improving the welfare of women, youths, children, and other vulnerable groups across the country.
The governor gave the commendation on Tuesday during the commissioning and handover of a Community Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre in Ihugh, Vandeikya Local Government Area of the state.
Alia described the first lady as a friend and mother of Benue whose interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) have continued to impact lives and support community development.
At the event, the governor announced that the facility would be named after Mama Lucy Aluor in recognition of her contributions to the community.
The ICT centre, established through a partnership between the Renewed Hope Initiative, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the Benue State Government, is aimed at expanding access to digital technology and skills development in rural communities.
According to Alia, the centre will promote digital literacy, equip young people with employable skills, bridge the digital divide, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and prepare residents to take advantage of opportunities in the digital economy.
He noted that the project reflects his administration’s commitment to ICT development and rural transformation, adding that it would improve access to technology, strengthen connectivity, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic activities in the area.
The governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his support to state governments and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent resource management and the delivery of projects that improve the lives of the people.
