The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the arrival of sensitive election materials for the forthcoming Ondo South Senatorial District by-election at Akure Airport ahead of Saturday’s poll.

The commission disclosed this in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, indicating that preparations for the election have entered the final stage.

According to INEC, the materials arrived earlier in the day and were received by a team of electoral officials led by the Head of the Electoral Operations Department, Dr. Tope Akanmu.

The commission said the materials would be moved to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for secure custody pending deployment to the various local government areas and polling units within the senatorial district.

INEC noted that the arrival of the sensitive materials reflects its readiness to conduct a credible, free and fair election in the constituency.

The electoral body added that all necessary logistical and operational arrangements had been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the by-election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

“Earlier today, sensitive election materials for the forthcoming Ondo South Senatorial District by-election arrived at Akure Airport,” the commission stated.

It added that the development underscores its preparedness and signals that all arrangements are now in place for the successful conduct of the by-election.
