APC, Renewed Hope Ambassadors call for diaspora unity ahead of 2027 elections
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, have called for unity among APC members in the diaspora to strengthen support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The call was made on Wednesday in Abuja during a strategic global diaspora conference organised by the Directorate of Diaspora and Global Affairs of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, which brought together party leaders and representatives from across continents.
Prof. Yilwatda urged diaspora members to support effective communication of government achievements, stressing the need for structured media teams to counter misinformation and improve Nigeria’s international image. He also called for stronger diaspora involvement in voter education and investment mobilisation.
Governor Uzodimma, who serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, emphasised the importance of unity and coordinated grassroots mobilisation among diaspora members, noting their strategic role in securing support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, the Deputy Director-General of the group, commended the initiative and organisers, including NiDCOM Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa, describing diaspora participation as critical to political mobilisation and national development.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, called for stronger linkage between diaspora capacity and grassroots governance, while advocating the creation of dedicated media structures to highlight government programmes and counter misinformation.
The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde, highlighted key achievements of the Tinubu administration, including Shell’s return to Nigeria, infrastructure expansion, and the student loan scheme under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund).
The conference, which drew more than 600 participants across Africa, Europe, the Americas, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, also focused on strengthening coordination among diaspora groups and compiling President Tinubu’s achievements for wider dissemination.
