Enugu governor appoints Nollywood’s Eucharia Anunobi, Rachael Okonkwo as aides

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the appointment of Nollywood thespians Eucharia Anunobi and Rachael Okonkwo as his aides.

Their appointments were contained in a public announcement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.

The actresses were among the 101 new aides appointed to various positions, including special adviser, senior special assistant and special assistant roles in the state administration.

Veteran actress Eucharia Anunobi was appointed Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for Enugu North Zone. Her portfolio focuses on women mobilisation within the Enugu North zone.

Anunobi rose to prominence in Nollywood in the 1990s and has featured in more than 90 films before answering the call to evangelism.

In a related development, Rachael Okonkwo, fondly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development.

Okonkwo is a Nigerian actress whose nickname was derived from her lead role in the Nkoli Nwa Nsukka film series. She began her journey into the movie industry in 2005 and has remained active in the sector. Aside from acting, she is also involved in property management.

The appointments bring the two actresses into the Enugu State Government, with Anunobi responsible for women mobilisation in the Enugu North zone, while Okonkwo’s role focuses on the film and creative industry.
