PHOTO NEWS: Shettima leads FG delegation to Yola, consoles Tukur family
Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Thursday led a Federal Government delegation to Yola, Adamawa State, to condole with the family of the late elder statesman and former Governor of old Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Muhammad Tukur.
Shettima first visited the palace of the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, where he paid homage to the traditional ruler and commiserated with him over the death of Tukur, who was the Tafidan Adamawa.
The Vice-President later proceeded to Tukur Lodge, the family residence of the deceased, where he conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s condolences to the family.
Shettima described Tukur as a distinguished statesman and accomplished Nigerian whose contributions to entrepreneurship, public service and national development would be remembered for generations.
He said although the late elder statesman would be deeply missed, his family and the nation should celebrate a life marked by devotion to duty, enterprise and service to humanity.
The Vice-President urged members of the Tukur family to remain united and preserve the legacy of peace and service associated with their late patriarch.
He also commended Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for the support extended to the family during the mourning period.
Responding on behalf of the family, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government and son of the deceased, Awwal Tukur, thanked Tinubu for his message of condolence.
