The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals accused of terrorising students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and residents of Oke-Baale and its environs in Osogbo.
The suspects were identified as Abass Quadri, 26; Olanrewaju Joshua, 24; and Yusuf Taiwo, 25.
The command, in a statement by its spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the arrests followed complaints from UNIOSUN students in the Oke-Baale area over the incessant activities of criminals and thugs along their daily transit routes.
According to the police, operatives embarked on patrol and raided a criminal hideout on September 9, 2026, during which the three suspects were arrested.
“Their modus operandi was that, anytime they see the students, they will forcefully stop them, threaten them, collect their phones and force them to transfer money to them,” the command said.
The police said the three suspects had been charged to court, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the group.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or threats to the nearest police station.
