Fayose commissions Government House lodge named after him, praises Oyebanji

Former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, on Monday commissioned the newly completed Government House lodge named after him in Ado-Ekiti, describing the honour as a rare gesture while commending Governor Biodun Oyebanji for fostering unity and development in the state.

Speaking at the inauguration, Fayose said the Oyebanji administration had brought together former governors and political leaders, ending the divisions that had often hindered the state’s progress.

“Governor Oyebanji has united Ekiti beyond political affiliations. Today, former governors and stakeholders are working together for the collective good of the state. His administration has also recorded remarkable achievements in road infrastructure, water supply, education and the transformation of the Government House,” Fayose said.

The former governor thanked Oyebanji for naming the building after him during his lifetime, noting that the recognition meant a great deal to him.

“I appreciate Governor Oyebanji for this honour. He could have chosen otherwise, but he decided to recognise my contributions. I am sincerely grateful for this gesture,” the PDP stalwart added.

Fayose also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for appointing him Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, assuring Nigerians that he would justify the confidence reposed in him once the agency’s governing board is inaugurated.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji said the decision to name the lodge after Fayose was in recognition of his contributions to the growth of Ekiti State and in continuation of his administration’s policy of honouring deserving leaders who had served the state with distinction.

The governor also congratulated Fayose on his recent federal appointment and commended President Tinubu for what he described as sustained support for Ekiti through strategic appointments and developmental projects.
