Four abductees rescued as military intensifies operations in Katsina

Four abductees have been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army as security forces intensify ongoing operations against notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, and members of his criminal gang in Katsina State.

The Katsina State Government, which announced the development, identified the rescued victims as Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36; and Salisu Danja, 50. According to the government, they were freed during sustained military operations in areas believed to be strongholds of the bandits.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, said the victims received immediate medical attention for gunshot wounds sustained during their captivity.

The government recalled that the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar had earlier been rescued, noting that the four victims were previously seen in a photograph with the retired military officer.

The state government commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the operation for their bravery, professionalism, and commitment in the fight against banditry and kidnapping.

“Their relentless efforts continue to yield positive results in the fight against banditry and kidnapping across the state,” the statement said.

The ministry assured residents that security forces remained on the trail of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other criminal elements, stressing that ongoing operations would continue until those responsible for acts of terror against innocent citizens were apprehended and brought to justice.

It reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration to protecting lives and property, pledging continued collaboration with security agencies to ensure that criminals have no safe haven anywhere in Katsina State.
