Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has directed his advisory council to engage governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 election.

The council, chaired by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Bolaji Ayorinde, is meeting all PDP aspirants to assess their plans for the state and make recommendations for a candidate to continue Makinde’s “Omituntun 3.0” agenda.

So far, Western Post confirmed that nine aspirants, including Adedeji Olajide, Nureni Adeniran, Bimbo Adekanmbi, Debo Akande, and Adebo Ogundoyin, have interacted with the council.

Addressing the public, Ayorinde stressed that the exercise is not a screening or disqualification process but a chance for aspirants to present their visions.

He said, “The council’s role is to advise the governor. This is an interaction to understand the ideas and programmes of the aspirants. The governor is committed to a fair and transparent process for all.”

The senior advocate added that the council would later consult other stakeholders, including party leaders and traditional rulers, to ensure that the eventual candidate is broadly accepted.
