The Minister of Health, Ali Pate, emphasized that major health challenges extend beyond borders, affecting not only Africa but also the global community.
He said this Friday at the 25th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Health Ministers of the Economic Community of West African States held in Abuja.
The meeting is themed, “Quality of Health Care in the ECOWAS Region,” underscores the importance of both robust health systems and financial frameworks, as well as the need for trained, retained, and motivated frontline health workers to deliver services.
In a post via his X account, Pate disclosed that an agreement was signed among African members with the African Centre for disease control to establish a regional collaborative center that will complement existing efforts, through the ECOWAS Regional Center for Disease Surveillance and Control, to detect, prevent, and respond to public health threats.
He said, Once again, we have today demonstrated the power of our unity and shared purpose. Together, we can overcome the challenges before us and achieve lasting improvements in the health of our region. Let us leverage our collective strengths to create a healthier, more prosperous future for all.
