The annual assembly, which runs from November 4th to 7th, gathers heads of police agencies and top law enforcement officials from INTERPOL’s 196 member nations to discuss collaborative approaches to global security challenges.

The Nigerian delegation is led by the Minister of Police Affairs, Sen. Dr. Ibrahim Gaidam, and includes high-ranking officials such as Vice President of INTERPOL Africa, AIG Garba Umar (rtd.), INTERPOL Commissioner CP Olaolu Adegbite, and CP Johnson Adenola, the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP.

In addition to participating in the general assembly, the Nigerian officials will hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from Europol and other nations. The discussions aim to strengthen global partnerships, enhance governance and data processing practices, and boost policing capabilities in combating transnational crimes.

IGP Egbetokun expressed his intention to use the assembly’s outcomes to bolster the capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force, as well as the West African Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO), where he serves as chairman.

He emphasized the force’s commitment to collaborating with international policing bodies to address organized crime and improve cross-border crime prevention efforts.
