The Ilorin South Progressive Caucus in Kwara State has endorsed the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and declared support for Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa as its preferred governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a programme in Ilorin, the caucus chairman, Oladimeji Mustapha, said the group’s decision was rooted in its belief in continuity, loyalty, and purposeful leadership.
He added that the gathering provided an opportunity for members to speak with one voice in support of progress, unity, and credible leadership at both the state and national levels.
Furthermore, Mustapha stated that the caucus had resolved to back President Tinubu’s continuity in office while aligning with Bolarinwa as a tested and unifying figure for Kwara’s future leadership.
Meanwhile, a public affairs analyst, Issa Alfulani, formally moved motions endorsing Tinubu for a second term and Bolarinwa as the consensus governorship candidate for 2027.
He described Bolarinwa as a unifier and experienced political figure, expressing confidence that his leadership would foster inclusiveness, stability, and accelerated development in the state.
In a related development, religious leaders in Oyun Local Government Area organized interfaith prayers for Tinubu and Bolarinwa, seeking peaceful elections and divine protection before, during, and after the polls.
Consequently, a communiqué signed by Azeez Isiaka Afolabi confirmed the adoption of Bolarinwa as the APC governorship aspirant and urged other contenders, as well as Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to support his candidacy.
