JUST IN: Senate confirms Kekere-Ekun as CJN
The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
Presiding over the sitting of its Committee of the Whole in Abuja on Wednesday, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, confirmed the appointment of the legal luminary.
Kekere-Ekun is the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria and the second woman to occupy the exalted position.
She succeeds Justice Kayode Ariwoola, who retired recently.
President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, forwarded her name to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
