No casualty as container truck crashes into six vehicles on Kara bridge

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that no life was lost and no one was injured when a 40-foot container truck crashed into six other vehicles at Kara Bridge, inward OPIC, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Tuesday morning.

In a statement, the agency said the container truck reportedly developed a mechanical fault while in motion, lost control and rammed into the other vehicles.

LASEMA said a total of seven vehicles were involved in the crash, adding that its LRT Tiger Squad, stationed at C3, responded promptly alongside the police, who moved quickly to manage the scene and prevent a secondary accident.

The agency said the damaged vehicles were cleared from the road, while traffic flow was restored immediately.

Meanwhile, the LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, commended the emergency responders for their prompt intervention, saying their swift action helped prevent casualties and ensured the quick clearance of the road.

Oke-Osanyintolu urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to ensure proper vehicle maintenance, comply with roadworthiness requirements and exercise caution when driving on major highways.
