Ogun police nab two suspects linked to Edo kidnapping, murder; investigation ongoing
The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing investigation with the arrest of two suspects in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode, who are allegedly linked to a kidnapping and murder case in the Okada area of Edo State.
The command disclosed this in a statement updating the public on developments following its earlier release of June 4, 2026, which announced the initial apprehension of the suspects by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service.
According to the police, the suspects were identified after extensive profiling and intelligence-led investigations conducted by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command.
The suspects were named as Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20, both male. Preliminary investigations allegedly linked them to a kidnapping and murder incident in Edo State.
The command further revealed that intelligence suggests the suspects are members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate connected to the crime under investigation.
During the operation, police recovered one pair of Police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects. The exhibits have been documented and retained to support ongoing investigations.
The Ogun State Police Command stated that since the alleged offences occurred outside its jurisdiction, the suspects and recovered exhibits would be transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution in line with inter-state policing procedures.
Reacting, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and intelligence-driven approach, reaffirming the command’s commitment to preventing criminals from using Ogun State as a safe haven while assuring continued collaboration and strengthened security efforts across the state.
