Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Seyi Makinde regarding his effective style of leadership.
The endorsement was made during a strategic meeting of elected officials and party leaders held on Sunday at Jagz Hotel in the Iyaganku area of Ibadan.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the state PDP chairman, Dayo Ogungbenro, said stakeholders commended Makinde’s leadership, developmental strides and commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners.
They praised the administration for the regular payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, noting that the government had cleared more than ₦36 billion backlog of gratuities inherited from previous administrations.
The stakeholders also lauded the governor’s assurance that all gratuities accrued during his tenure would be fully paid before the end of his administration.
The meeting highlighted key infrastructure projects across the state, including the Ibadan Circular Road and the upgrade of Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standard.
Participants also discussed internal challenges affecting some zones and local government areas, assuring party members that steps would be taken to address them and strengthen unity within the party.
They reaffirmed their commitment to the unity and stability of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State and pledged to work together to ensure the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.
