PHOTO NEWS: Military buries Brigadier Braimah, other fallen soldiers from Borno attack

The Nigerian Army has buried Brigadier General O.O. Braimah and other soldiers killed during a deadly insurgent attack in Borno State.

Brigadier Braimah, who commanded the 29 Task Force Brigade, was among the troops killed on April 9, when suspected fighters linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province launched coordinated overnight assaults on military formations, including a key base in Benisheikh, Kaga LGA.

According to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), the killings occurred during a confrontation between troops and insurgents in Borno State.

The DHQ described the fallen officers as “gallant” personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of Nigeria, highlighting Braimah’s “conspicuous bravery and leadership under fire.”

Reports indicate the attacks were part of a broader wave of intensified insurgent operations across Borno, where armed groups have increasingly targeted military bases and communities despite ongoing counterinsurgency efforts.
