Police foil kidnap attempt in Ondo, rescue two

The Ondo State Police Command on Thursday thwarted an attempted kidnapping along the Idogun–Imeri axis in Ose Local Government Area of the state.

The incident, which occurred around 5:45 p.m., was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, on Saturday.

According to the statement, operatives of the command acted swiftly to the distress call and were immediately deployed to the scene of the attack.

“The suspects had struck at a gathering where guests assembled for a social event before our men moved in and disrupted their operation,” the statement read.

The police disclosed that two victims were rescued during the operation and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the situation.

He further assured residents that intensified combing operations and reinforcements had been deployed to the area to forestall further security threats.

Lawal also appreciated the resident who provided the timely information, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with credible intelligence.
