Renewed Hope media tour inspects housing, road projects in Abia

The Renewed Hope National Media Tour has inspected key infrastructure and housing projects in Abia State as part of efforts to assess ongoing development initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The media delegation, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, visited several federal and state-backed projects across the state.

Among the projects inspected was the Ohafia–Umuahia Federal Road, a major transportation route linking communities and commercial centres. The team also visited the 67.6-kilometre Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara–Ohafia Road, a state-financed project expected to improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, reduce travel time and stimulate economic activities in rural communities.

At the Omenuko Bridge along the Ohafia–Umuahia corridor, the delegation assessed ongoing works aimed at strengthening transportation infrastructure serving commuters and businesses in the area.

A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of the proposed Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Umuahia, a 1,200-unit housing development under the Federal Government’s housing programme.

Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, said procurement processes for the project had been completed and contractors would soon commence work on the site.

According to him, the Abia State Government provided the land and paid compensation to affected landowners, while the Federal Housing Authority is responsible for the construction.

The delegation also visited the Onuinyan Bende Renewed Hope Housing Project, another housing development initiative designed to expand access to affordable homes and create employment opportunities.
