Sanwo-Olu rallies support for Tinubu amid rising insecurity

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday urged Nigerians to unite behind President Bola Tinubu amid rising insecurity, saying the country will not bow to terror.

In a press statement, Sanwo-Olu said recent attacks in parts of the country have understandably generated concern, adding that moments like this require citizens to be reminded of their national character as a people known for a strong and unbreakable spirit.

Sanwo-Olu went further to rally nonpartisan support for Tinubu and the armed forces, noting that bandits do not ask for political affiliations before they kill, maim and destroy.

He equally stated that every life lost is a tragedy and that communities threatened by violence deserve solidarity, support and protection. Sanwo-Olu also asked Nigerians to keep victims in their thoughts and prayers, specifically citing teachers and students abducted from Orire Local Government Area in Oyo state.

“In trying moments like this, Nigerians must never lose faith in our nation or in our collective ability to overcome adversity. The seed of greatness lies within each and every one of us,” he said.

The governor added that the country’s security challenges are not insurmountable, stressing that those spreading fear and instability do not represent Nigeria’s character or future.

He disclosed that efforts are ongoing to strengthen security architecture, improve intelligence gathering and confront criminal networks, hence the need for national cohesion at such a time.

Speaking as governor and as a citizen, Sanwo-Olu expressed belief in Nigeria’s promise, asserting that the best days remain ahead.
