Tinubu swears in new Minister of Power, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The brief ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, in the presence of the ministers’ spouses, senior government officials, and aides.
The appointments follow recent cabinet changes after the exit of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, who left to pursue political ambitions. The new nominees were earlier confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
President Bola Tinubu administered the oath of office to the new appointees, formally ushering them into the Federal Executive Council.
Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, the new Minister of Power, is a fiscal and economic reform expert with over 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He holds degrees in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, and Public Administration, and has previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led major reform and governance initiatives.
Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, who now serves as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, is a seasoned diplomat from Igbagun, Kogi State. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and rose through the ranks to become Permanent Secretary before retiring in 2017 after 35 years of service.
A career diplomat, he has served in several Nigerian missions abroad, including Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India, where he last served as Head of Mission.
Before his appointment, he was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.
