Tundun Abiola tackles sister, Hasfat, for comparing Yahaya Bello with MKO

Arise TV host Tundun Abiola has tackled her half sister and Director General of the Yahaya Bello Presidential Campaign Organisation, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, for dishonouring their father, MKO Abiola’s name.

Speaking on Arise TV Morning Show, Tundun wondered why her sister would  compare MKO with the Kogi State governor.

She said it was sad that no other person in the campaign team decide to throw their own father under the bus apart from Hafsat who did so for MKO despite all his struggles for Nigeria.

Hasfat, first daughter of late Kudirat Abiola was at the formal declaration of Governor Yahaya Bello on Saturday at the Eagle Square in Abuja where she he prided herself as the first woman Director- General of any presidential campaign in Nigeria.

Speaking on Sunday night in an interview programme -Thisday Live – on the same station, Hafsat had said Governor Bello was just like her father in their belief about the emancipation of Nigerians.

Governor Bello had christened his campaign Hope 2023 after that of MKO’s Hope 1993.

Responding to Hafsat, Tundun said, “Dr Abati, I was actually quite dismayed by your interview yesterday. Just because it’s not surprising does not mean it’s not staggeringly inappropriate. I’m referring to my half sister Hafsat, the DG of Yahaya Bello campaign and her making comparism to my dad.

“There are a lot of political players in the team, none of them saw the need to throw their dad under the bus for the sake of their principal, come out and talk about your principal, his antecedents and plans for the future of Nigeria and leave daddy out of it. It’s not her right, it’s not her name, because it’s our name, it’s also name of future Abiola yet unborn who should be proud of their legacy.”

“My father was tortured because United Nations does consider solitary confinement as torture. He was tortured and then murdered and has left his legacy, only for it to be abused in this fashion. And I did say, because I’m quite consistent that because we had another gentleman on this show who was campaigning for another candidate and using my dad to score points and I was apathetic.

“For me, it’s the principle of it, whether it’s his child, it’s unfortunate that it should be his child. Everyone should just leave his name out of it, especially the dishonesty, the false equivalence of a genuine struggle,” She added.
